Sam Harrell (they/them) is an adjunct faculty member with the IU School of Social Work on the Bloomington campus. They also serve as an adult leader with Prism Youth Community, a safe space for LGBTQ+ youth and allies through Bloomington Pride. They have experience in the fields of domestic and sexual violence prevention, legal advocacy, homeless shelter services, child welfare, and prison/jail re-entry. The served as a Site Director for the Interfaith Winter Shelter, a low-barrier shelter for adults experiencing homelessness, for four years. Sam's research and organizing interests include transformative justice, prison abolition, and queer youth support. They have presented at regional and national conferences on transformative justice as a sexual violence prevention strategy. They have both a BSW and MSW from Indiana University.
